In the Feb. 14 regional swimming and diving meet at Springfield College, Monument junior Maggie Rosenbaum used her 57.91-second finish in the 100-yard butterfly to win the event and earn a trip to the state meet.

She also stood as the fastest of the 25-swimmer field in the 100-yard backstroke, winning the event with a 58.13-second finish.

Also qualifying for state-level competition was teammate Keeley Farnam in the 100-yard breaststroke (second-1:10.7).

In hockey, Mt. Everett tallied a 6-1 triumph on the Berkshire School ice over Wahconah on Feb. 11 on the strength of two-goal offense from center Chris Ives and single taps from Keith Torrico, Tom Danz, Dylan Mooney and Cody Funk.

In addition to assists being provided by Torrico, Ives, Nick Ryan and Rick Janusz, goalkeeper Evan Holdredge got in on the act and had one. Holdredge made 10 saves, with only Trevor Jamross able to get the puck past him.

However, the Eagles’ return to the Stewart Athletic Center on Valentine’s Day was less joyful, because Taconic’s 6-0 win made it so despite Holdredge’s 22 saves. But as of Wednesday, the Eagles remained in need of just one win to qualify for the Division 3 regional tournament.
